Praise

This book is COOL

"Author Steve Gashler has an incredible imagination and an extremely fun way of telling stories. Not only does he tell a great story, he absolutely loves doing it. You can feel that when you read the words, it jumps out from the pages, and you can definitely tell that when you hear the audio book (which the author narrates himself).

Creative, fun, subversive, this book is great It is a fun read by yourself, but is also a story that's a blast to read with kids - the older ones (Jr. high, high school) will probably get it more. It is a great young adult read, but if you've ever been to high school, or lived those teenage years yourself, you'll fully relate to and enjoy this book. Do yourself a favor, and grab it in any of the formats it comes in - Kindle, paper, audio - you're going to love it."

A binge-worthy book unlike any other

"Gideon's plan of floating his way through High School is upended, and his eyes are opened to the hidden evils that have been invariably lurking throughout society as he knows it. With help from his freinds, Gideon uncovers an ancient secret order, which traces back as far as the ancient mythological gods themselves. The truths that they discover kindle the wrath of the gods, and Gideon is forced to either oppose the gods and vanquish the devices that they use to divide and brainwash his peers, or else lose all of his friends in addition to any hope for a future within society's domain. This is a binge-worthy book unlike any other. This book has something for everyone to relate to, while geared towards Young Adults, everyone will appreciate its brilliance. One of the best books I've read I a long time, I can't recommend it enough. I also recommend looking into the audio book for an even greater experience, the author does a supurb job at narrating his own novel along with doing his own voice work."

Lots of fun

"This book is an exciting read. It draws you in and is difficult to put down. There are unexpected twists and turns that catch you unaware and amp up the thrill level. While the book is written for a younger generation of reader, as an adult I but found the book to be a fun and insightful read. Thoroughly enjoyed it and recommend it for all ages."

Gideon Versus the Gods of Cool

By Stephen Gashler

Gideon Greenwich, a delinquent nerd, is given two choices: join the football team or be expelled.

To be "initiated" into the team, Gideon attends a violent fraternity party, where he has a startling discovery: the jocks are being controlled by an evil god of sports! As the conspiracy unfolds, it appears that the entire high school has been hijacked by otherworldly beings posing as teachers. To resist their dark powers, Gideon must look beyond social cliques and team up with star quarterback, Doug Rock, and the beautiful cheerleader, Cynthia McDaniels.

Together, the unlikely friends take on the god of sports, the goddess of fashion, and the god of popularity. But defying the "gods of cool" takes courage, a willingness to look stupid, and mind-bending adventures through parallel universes. In this thoughtful and hilarious critique of high school life, national award-winning storyteller, Stephen Gashler, will make you question what it means to be "cool."
